Breaking Habit: Smoking Day 10

Now is day ten, and I've spent the entire day in bed, resting in bed, since I really wanted to go to the hiking path yesterday and today I'm paying for it. I have fibromyalgia, chronic pain, and back problems, in case you guys didn't know that before. If I push myself too hard today, my body will be useless for the next couple of days. I have the energy of a person trapped in the limitations of an old aged body. In spite of the agony, I experience on a regular basis, I make an effort to remain on the move and focus on other things. No of how I feel, I am always thankful for the blessing of another day of life. When clients come to me complaining of pain, one of my first tips for them is usually the same: get up and walk around. I have a condition that causes me pain if I do things like sit for extended periods of time, lay down for longer than I should, walk too much, or stay motionless for too long. To avoid this pain, I do my best to adapt to any situation and forget about it.

Let's talk about today symptoms, it’s day 10 today, but day 6 since I quit smoking; I refuse to give in to the nicotine monster any more. It's challenging, but I'm grateful for the growing amount of inner strength I experience with each passing day, hour, minute, and second. Withdrawal symptoms are still there, but the fact that I feel physically better is more important right now.

It's amazing how many times we try to break a bad habit in for a new one. To get rid of an old habit, you need to replace it with a new one, which is much harder than it sounds at first. Just as how I used to enjoy sitting outdoors with a beer and a cigarette, I can ultimately return to the same spots and do anything other than smoke, such as meditate or read a book, now that I'm working to kick the habit.

My guide to quitting smoking is has a lot of helpful, there's a lot of no-cost suggestions to simplify the process also, I recommend the website smokefree.gov. There are several groups that can guide and assist you in kicking any habit, even if it's not smoking.
