Breaking Habit: Smoking Day 14

Let's begin by stating that today is day 14 of my journey, although it's only day 11 since I've abstained from smoking cigarettes. I felt compelled to mention that today all I wanted to do was go to the local grocery store and pick up a pack for myself. As I continued to research, I discovered that at this point in time, my body had already eliminated all traces of nicotine. However, a significant portion of what I am feeling now is likely due to certain triggers. Today is an extremely challenging day for me, which is precisely why I am putting all of my focus and energy into maintaining my commitment not to smoke. Today is a good day for me to work on my self-control. At this stage in my journey, beer or coffee are not anything that I consider potential triggers. Additionally, places that I used to stop at and buy cigarettes have been visited today, and I did not have the impulse to purchase any cigarettes. Up until this point in the day, what set me off was more of a circumstance that I went through today.

If you want to learn more about self-control or other aspects of yourself, I highly suggest going to the Personal Life Coaching part of my blog, where I have already written useful material on building self-confidence, loving oneself, and being aware of one's own needs and desires.

Before I begin to explain what, positive effects quitting smoking has had on my health so far on this journey, I want to say that it feels so good not to smell like a cigarette. I can also confirm that being around people who smoke is uncomfortable due to the smell and the trigger that may be experienced. This is something I want to say before I begin to explain what positive effects quitting smoking has had on my health so far. In addition, we had already saved $235.40 since the previous cost of our cigarettes was $21.40 per day.

Disclaimer: While these methods and products aided me during this process, I cannot guarantee that they will work for you because each person is unique. Also, I recommend that you consult your health and mental professionals before starting any process or diet.

You will start to feel these health benefits about two weeks after you have stopped smoking for 14 days straight without going back to it.

My system is beginning to discharge the nicotine.

Let's speak about the point in time when the toxins in my body were expelled from my body. Toxins Exit the Body After a period of one day without smoking, all traces of nicotine will have been eliminated from the blood. I don't want to be obnoxious, but I feel the need to point out that during the first twenty-four to forty-eight hours of this journey, the odor of my urine was quite pungent, and I also feel the need to confirm that throughout this procedure, I have been keeping my body well hydrated by drinking a lot of fluids. If you are someone who, despite the fact that water is healthier, does not find delight in drinking it, then you are like me. Due to this I flavors my water. When I flavor my water, I use the Cirkul bottle, which comes in flavors such as Fruit Punch, Coconut Pineapple, and Berry Pomegranate (Stevia). I purchased this bottle at a major retailer for $19.99, and it came with 2 cartridges. However, each cartridge only lasts me for three refills of 22 ounces of water when I don't use it with a lot of flavors. I am not being compensated for this advertising, but if you are interested in purchasing the Cirkul bottle, I have discovered that if you order straight from them, you may save money on the cartridges by enrolling in their auto-ship program.

Searching the web, I found that in the process of releasing toxins of my body additionally, the amount of carbon monoxide (CO) in the blood is equal to that of a non-smoker a few days after stopping smoking. This is a significant health benefit of quitting smoking. (“What Happens After You Quit Smoking for Two Weeks”)

When cigarettes are burnt, carbon monoxide is created, which is then breathed by the individual smoking the cigarettes. Consuming large amounts of tobacco may result in CO poisoning, the symptoms of which include mental confusion and a reduction in motor function. CO poisoning may be lethal in certain circumstances. Breathing Much Better

As I described before in this journey, I suffer from asthma; at the time, I was experiencing issues with my sinuses, despite the fact that they become as severe as a respiratory infection. The fact that this was one of my reasons to stop smoking when I was attempting to quit around a year ago, about this time when I had the same issue, but I continued smoking like a chimney despite having the same problem. Over the course of the last year, I have tried more than three times, and each time, I have succeeded in quitting smoking for at least 14 days; but, as of right now, I am only able to go 11 days without lighting up.

Throughout this process, I have been putting a lot of pressure on myself not to start again and practicing a lot of self-control.

Some information that I'd want to share to you is the following: Within two weeks to two months, you could find that walking and breathing become a bit easier for you. This is because your lung function is becoming better, and the air sacs in your lungs (alveoli) are starting to relax and create less mucus. As a result, you will notice that your cough is getting better. (“What Happens After You Quit Smoking for Two Weeks”)

I would want to end this day by stating that the withdrawal symptoms caused by nicotine in my body, such as headaches, nausea, irritability, and grumpiness, have completely disappeared. Today I just faced a trigger that was beyond my control, and despite the fact that I really wanted to smoke, I am proud of myself for having the courage to refrain from doing so. I have been keeping myself motivated and calm, and I have not been letting anything that I do not have control over influence me. I have been doing this by letting go of the anxiety that is not my mine. Not only with this journey but setting up my boundaries has helped me a lot in many aspects of my life. If you want to know more about boundaries, I encourage you to go to the section Program List on my website for more information.
