Day number 4 – It was so awful that I cursed at my poor husband, I was irritable, suffered from headaches, smoked three cigarettes on this day, and felt nauseous every time. The first step in trying to stop smoking is to get rid of everything that makes you think of smoking. My husband is not prepared to stop smoking; thus, I am unable to do that. I won't make the same excuses again, but it would be much simpler and easy for me if he would. But as I've always said, I am accountable for my actions because it is my responsibility, my decision, and my commitment.

Day 5: It's 8:15 a.m., although I woke up at 6:45. This morning, I broke from my usual schedule. Instead of getting out of bed, sipping my coffee, and walking outside, I grabbed my agenda, my coffee, and I started my journaling questions. After that, I left and continued with my day.
I put on a patch today because I didn't want to be yelling at my husband all day. For those who don't know me, I have fibromyalgia, which causes chronic pain that lasts 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Years ago, when I first started trying to stop smoking, I came to the realization: WHY DO I SMOKE? And then it occurs to me that even though I meditate, utilize crystals, and do everything else that is naturally possible to relieve anxiety, I still have anxiety and must take prescription anxiety medicine to feel better. Even though I try to avoid thinking about it most of the time, being in continual pain is challenging. However, you start to feel really frustrated when your body becomes numb from sitting or lying still for an extended period.
The patch has been helpful thus far, and it's only 10 am. Stay tuned for more updates on my journey.
